Nowadays the nursery techniques of producing small and young plants in an indoor environment provide for different protocols depending on the type of starting material. In vitro micropropagation, the production of cuttings, the grafting of young horticultural plants, etc., are generally conducted in controlled environments from a climatic and health point of view, the so-called clean rooms, on special illuminated shelves. Micropropagation is a nursery technique born in the early 80s in the province of Cesena, today a center of excellence worldwide. It is one of the most advanced methods to produce large quantities of plants for fruit essences such as peach, small fruits and ornamental plants.

A second technique in which Italy excels but present globally, is that of the production of grafted young horticultural plants. This technique involves the insertion of a branch, called nesto, taken from a plant chosen for its high productive and qualitative performance, on the hypogeal or trunk part of a less productive but more rustic one, that is resistant to the conditions of the soil and the diseases that through it they can propagate. The result is a highly productive plant resistant to common diseases such as wilt, fusarium and soil borne parasites such as nematodes.

Both the micropropagation and grafting techniques, as well as other less common but also developed indoors, such as vertical farming (to produce adult vegetables), are carried out on trolleys. C-Led has started a collaboration with Orlandelli, a leading Italian company in the production of trolleys and equipment for the display of plants and flowers. The first installation was carried out at the Berryplant Company, in Baselga di Pinè, which enjoys thirty years of experience in the field of Rubus propagation. C-Led slim lamps with cool white spectrum have been installed on the DC trolleys of Orlandelli, in order to obtain a perfect product for micropropagation. Thanks to this technique, Berryplant produces healthy plants, which guarantee greater success in the cultivation, development and productive result of the grower.

Partnership:
To respond to this growing market demand, the DC trolley with lighting kit was developed thanks to the collaboration between Organizzazione Orlandelli, leader in the supply of floriculture equipment, and C-LED, international leader in LED technology. C-LED oversaw the development of a LED lighting kit based exactly on the measurements of DC trolleys Orlandelli, creating an ideal product for growing a wide variety of plants.

C-LED is a company of the CEFLA industrial group, founded in 1932. Today C-LED is the leader in the production of high-tech LED lamps and a point of reference also in industrial research and development for specific lamps for agriculture. The C-LED research and development team, in collaboration with numerous industrial and academic partners in recent years has conducted numerous tests in a controlled environment and in the field with private individuals, in order to define the lighting protocol for young horticultural essences.
